Continuous Spectrum

A continuous spectrum is a band of all the wavelengths of light. Hot and dense sources of Light like stars give out a continuous spectrum of light, traveling out in all directions and interacting with other materials in space. This band and range of colors that a star emits depends on its temperature and elemental composition of the star itself.

Emission Spectrum

Different Gases, Salts, Metals and Elements Absorb different wavelengths of light. For example with the light from stars passes through a cloud of gas, some wavelengths of the light is absorbed and some is transmitted through the gas. The wavelengths of light that are absorbed depends on what elements and compounds it is made out of. An absorption spectrum has dark lines or gaps in the spectrum corresponding to wavelengths that are absorbed by the gas.

Absorption Spectrum

Emission Spectrum: When a certain Gas, compound, salt or element is heated up, exciting the atoms and molecules of that corresponding element, it causes that element to emit light. The spectrum of light that a gas emits depends on its temperature, density, and composition. An emission spectrum consists of a series of colored lines that correspond to wavelengths emitted by the glowing gas.

Faq

Our Spectrum Discharge Tubes are 10 inches/25.4 cm in length +/- 1%. Why this variation? Because Spectrum Tubes are hand blown glass masterpieces, and every masterpiece is different.

Length of the capillary is fixed to 4 inches/10 cm to give a handsome space for studying the spectra.

You will need our Spectrum Tube Power Supply (Sold Separately) to operate the Spectrum Tubes.

First, Unplug the Sciencent Spectrum Tube Power Supply and insert the Tube carefully between the springs inside the housing of Spectrum Tube Power Supply. After inserting, make sure you keep your hands off the terminals of the Power Supply and switch the power supply ONN. This is when you use your Spectral Grating or Spectro Meter to study the Spectra.

No………… kidding. Of course we do.

We do entertain small orders, but it must be kept in mind that logistical cost of handling and forwarding smaller quantities is substantially more, and reflects in per unit cost. Although, us being the manufacturers, our rates would still be attractive, even for smaller quantities.

What an exciting question! Just contact us and mention your interest for being a dealer. Special discounts await you!

NO! We’ve tested the tubes to continuously run for 5 minutes. Test at your own risk but I’m pretty sure it can run overnight. What a colorful night lamp it can be. No?
